Sean Ives, an eighth-grader at Trinity Lutheran School, leaves today to participate in the National Geography Bee. It is the second time he has qualified. The young man lived for a while in Serbia and Slovakia.
CROWN POINT | Sean Ives has been to places like Paris, Rome, Prague, Budapest, Belgrade, Vienna and New York City.
INDIANAPOLIS | Just call Sean Ives' geography and spelling talents bee-utiful.
NATIONAL HARBOR, MD. | Sean Ives couldn’t remember if the word “perennial” had one N or two.
CROWN POINT | A seventh-grader from Crown Point will represent Indiana in the National Geographic Bee from May 20 to 22 in Washington, D.C.
UNION TOWNSHIP | After spelling "echt" in an earlier round Saturday, Sean Ives had no trouble dealing with "efficacy," handling it with efficacy, to earn the title and the trip to Washington, D.C., for the finals of the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Wyatt Lee, of Chesterton Middle School, patiently waits with his fellow spellers to see who all will make it to the next round of spelling bee Saturday morning at Wheeler Middle School.
