Traffic jams? Really!
I am confused. I take U.S. 6 several times a week to commute to Valparaiso. Several times a week, I encounter drivers who average 40 mph or less between Ind. 149 and Ind. 49, although the posted speed limit is 55 mph.
SPRINGFIELD | Motorists hoping to travel faster on most Illinois interstates may have to wait a little longer because of the recent winter storm.
SPRINGFIELD | Barring a significant winter weather event, motorists on rural Illinois interstates should be able to legally drive at 70 miles per hour by no later than mid-January.
HOBART | A Barrington Ridge subdivision resident pleaded with the Hobart Board of Works to allow signs to be placed in his neighborhood to slow speeding motorists.
CHICAGO | Illinois drivers will soon be able to drive 70 mph on rural interstates under a bill signed into law by Gov. Pat Quinn.
SPRINGFIELD | Gov. Pat Quinn isn’t saying if he’s going to sign off on a plan that would allow Illinoisans to legally cruise along rural interstate highways at 70 miles per hour.
We hear all too often how speeding drivers cause vehicle accidents, but drivers not doing the speed limit can be just as dangerous, if not more dangerous.
VALPARAISO | A request to lower the speed limit on Lincolnway to 25 mph through the downtown led to a discussion at Tuesday's meeting of the city's Traffic and Safety Committee of whether the speed limit on all unposted roads should be 25.
In their infinite wisdom, the folks at the Indiana Department of Transportation have finally raised the speed limit on I-65. The same was done a short time ago on an isolated stretch of the Indiana Toll Road.
VALPARAISO | To try to keep vehicles from ending up in her parents' yard and injuring them or her 16-month-old child, Kristy Sanchez asked for a stop sign on Monroe Street at Greenwich Street.
INDIANAPOLIS | Indiana motorists driving even 1 mph over the speed limit in a school or construction zone could have their picture taken and receive a $300 ticket in the mail under legislation co-sponsored by a Northwest Indiana representative.
CHICAGO | Beginning Saturday, motorists prone to a lead foot will feel a tighter grip from the long arm of the law.
