A relic containing a bone fragment of St. Toribio Romo Gonzalez, a patron saint of immigrants, will make its new home at St. Mary's Church in East Chicago. The saint's family bequeathed the relic to the church because of St. Mary's affection for Toribio and its efforts on the behalf of immigrants.
The Rev. Reymundo Chavez, of Mexico, holds a relic that contains a bone fragment from the body of St. Toribio Romo Gonzalez, a martyred Catholic priest beloved by immigrants. Chavez recently delivered the relic to St. Mary's Catholic Church in East Chicago at the request of the saint's family.
