A second Indiana utility plans to follow NIPSCO in asking the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission for permission to undertake a multimillion upgrade to its infrastructure and charge much of the cost to customers.
NIPSCO was cited for pipeline safety violations after utility workers repeatedly damaged lines they should have first located.
The Court of Appeals of Indiana voided an Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission action that critics say could have added billions of dollars to natural gas customers' bills across the state over the next 30 years.
