HAMMOND | Mayor Thomas M. McDermott Jr. has signed the letter of acceptance for the $40,000 sponsorship of Festival of the Lakes required by the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority board of directors. The money will be on its way, the board chairman confirmed Monday.
HAMMOND | It has come down to a matter of verbal acceptance vs. written acceptance, and a $40,000 sponsorship of the city’s Festival of the Lakes may be dead in the water.
The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority, based in Hammond, has been operating well beyond the Lake County border, bringing business to all of Northwest Indiana.
HAMMOND | Hammond City Council President Mike Opinker, D-5th, said this week that Speros Batistatos' decision to move the air show to Newton County's Fair Oaks Farms is “totally ludicrous” and that "the taxpayers of Lake County should put a coalition together and go after Batistatos' job."
