Winter Storm Warning
A steady stream of snow fell across Northwest Indiana again Monday, causing white-out conditions on roads and adding inches to be shoveled from driveways.
Anywhere from 3 to 8 inches of snow is expected in various parts of the region by Wednesday afternoon with wind chills as low as 25 below zero to follow on Thursday and Friday.
State officials had a simple message for region residents Monday: Stay home.
The latest first snowfall of the season in Chicago-area history is set to fall this afternoon with the arrival of a winter storm that forecasters say could cause blizzard-like conditions near the Lake Michigan shoreline in Lake and Porter counties.
The region's first snowfall of the season is expected to dial down by the end of Friday, bringing lower temperatures, forceful winds and a chance of more snow Saturday, forecasters predict.
Up to 5 inches of snow were expected by this morning in the Chicago area and Northwest Indiana, with 6 inches or more forecast for areas to the south.
