I was surprised by Porter County Commissioner John Evans’ assertion that running Porter County Government efficiently is somehow unfair — or worse, inconsiderate of our county employees.

GUEST COMMENTARY: Referendum is taxpayer-financed campaign stunt

State legislation forcing a referendum on Tuesday is ridiculous. So ridiculous that two of the four counties named in the legislation refused to finance a referendum. They chose not to waste precious tax dollars to comply with fatally flawed legislation.

The people in control of the coin in Porter County got elected as "the disciples of NO" -- NO dump, NO Illiana Expressway, NO South Shore, NO Buses, NO RDA, NO C.R. 100 South improvement, NO kill at the animal shelter, NO to new schools.
