A new year brings new opportunities for Porter County government to get our budget challenges under control — if the County Council will act.
The Porter County Council did not shut down county Auditor Bob Wichlinski’s total quality management program as reported. A majority of councilmen are asking for accountability from the auditor for future expenditures. The minutes of the March 11 meeting reflect the same.
As the Porter County Councilwoman whose district includes the Valparaiso Community Schools, I was both surprised and troubled by the recent resolution adopted by a majority of my colleagues which inappropriately inserted the Porter County Council into Valparaiso Community School matters.
