The recently renovated Marquette Park Pavilion was designed in the early 1920s by architect George W. Maher. Restored in 2012, the Prairie School building can now be rented for special events.
A 2012 project at Marquette Park restored its pavilions, sidewalks and natural areas and made the park’s historic buildings accessible to everyone, said Tina Connor, executive vice president for Indiana Landmarks. The group recently honored the city of Gary for the restoration.
The newly renovated Marquette Park Pavilion was unveiled in late 2012. Indiana Landmarks, a private nonprofit organization, awarded its annual Cook Cup for Outstanding Restoration to Gary for the renovation of Marquette Park and Aquatorium.
