It is Tuesday evening. I’m sitting out here on the front porch and it is very quiet, almost too quiet.
Soups are always a good meal option for dinner. Following are a few favorites from The Amish Cook column over the years.
It’s 7:30 a.m. and another cold morning with the temperature in the single digits again. The wind chill has to be way below zero. I stepped out on the porch for a few seconds and the wind bit at my face. We are also getting more snow. What a crisp clean scene we have with a layer of freshly …
Happy New Year to all you wonderful readers. I hope 2014 will be a great year for everyone!
As I write this, Christmas is six days away. I do not need to look at the calendar to know, as the children remind me every morning. Jesus is the reason for the season. Let us rejoice on the day Christ was born. May each of your holiday seasons be filled with all the joy and peace on earth.
We had a few days of sunshine this week. The girls took advantage of it and raked up the rest of the leaves in our yard. We still have some here and there but most of them are picked up. What a relief before the weather gets much cooler.

It sure feels good to finally sit down and prop up my feet in front of a fan after a shower. It has been hot and humid this week.
We are having thunderstorms most of the evening. Our rain gauge shows like we have over two inches of rain already. I do think we have more because the wind is blowing the rain so it might not be quite the accurate amount going in.
Yesterday was the wedding of nephew Noah and Ruby in northern Indiana. They had a big wedding with lots of friends and family attending from various communities in Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Missouri, New York, Wisconsin, Kentucky, and possibly more states.
It is Thursday morning and the children are all sleeping in a little longer. It’s their first day of not having to go to school for the summer.
Our garden is beginning to fill up more and more. So far we have potatoes, onions, peas, lettuce, radishes, red beets, carrots and dill planted. Hope to get time to plant corn, green beans, and zucchini this week yet. I’ll wait until next week to put out any tomato and pepper plants. The see…
