Scott Martin used to play basketball on a dominating AAU team with Notre Dame All-American Luke Harangody in high school.

The pair could possibly be reunited as teammates if Martin's planned visit to Notre Dame next week proves to be a good fit.

Martin, who decided to leave Purdue's basketball program three weeks ago, said he plans to visit Notre Dame next Wednesday or Thursday.

Martin on Wednesday said Irish head coach Mike Brey has talked to him several times since he announced his decision to leave the Boilermakers.

"Coach Brey is a very good person, a great coach," Martin said. "It's a great school. I played with Luke (on SYF Players), and he's there, so I would know someone on the team coming in."

Martin said he made an unofficial visit to ND before deciding to play at Purdue originally. He said he met some of the Irish players when he visited.

"They all seemed like good guys," Martin said.

Martin said Harangody called him about a week ago, but he missed the call. He indicated he intends to talk to the former Andrean star soon.

Martin said he's also planning visits to Valparaiso and Butler.

"I'm not sure what days yet, but I will go to both," the former Valparaiso High star said.

DePaul is another school Martin is interested in, but he said Wednesday nothing is planned at this point.

Besides finding the right fit, Martin said he wants to go to a school where his parents can attend the games.

"It's important to me that they'll have the opportunity to see me play," he said.

Martin has one final exam remaining Friday -- in environmental science -- before he devotes his full attention to deciding where he'll continue his career.

Pittsburgh also called and talked to him. He also noted his AAU coach, Wayne Brumm, has taken calls for him from Arizona State, Oregon State, Florida and Charlotte.

"I'm looking forward to visiting Notre Dame," Martin said. "I really don't have (a timetable) for a decision. I'm listening to everyone and just taking it all in right now before I make any major decisions or anything like that."
