The courting of Aaron Glatt took just about a month and landed the Lake Central senior at his dream school.

The University of Dayton found Glatt on the mound during his summer ball season with Triple Crown Elite and made a quick phone call.

When Glatt visited Dayton, he was excited about the baseball team -- which was the Atlantic 10 regular-season and tournament champs -- and the school's mechanical engineering program.

"It felt like the right fit," Glatt said. "I went and checked it out and was happy with what I saw."

Glatt played behind Times co-Players of the Year Jimmie McNamara and Taylor Lehnert last season, starting a game for the Class 4A state champion Lake Central varsity team, but playing most of his time on the JV.

He said his summer has spent learning how to compete a complete game and he's learned a lot heading into a senior year that starts when school opens next week.

"The fact was that I was pitching most of the summer and I didn't not have my best stuff at times," Glatt said. "I had flashes, but there were times I had to battle through. I learned to compete and battle when I didn't have it all."

Lake Central coach Jeff Sandor said that the Flyers will be getting a student-athlete who listens to every suggestion and learns from it.

"If you tell him something, he doesn't turn a blind ear," Sandor said. "I hope the other kids see the success and that it comes from the hard work that Aaron has put in."
