Dean Danos had game as Bishop Noll's point guard during the 2011-12 school year.
It was his first experience with "Hoosier Hysteria" and the 5-foot-11 senior loved every second of it -- until he broke his right foot in the Class 2A sectional opener with River Forest.
"Oh, man. I wanted to play Bowman (Academy) so bad," Danos said of the inevitable title game. "Just the atmosphere of Indiana basketball and the competitive feel; the packed gyms like when we played Andrean. That was the most favorite game of my life."
The future looks brighter now for Danos after verbally committing to Division I Northern Kentucky University on Saturday.
He currently is enrolled at St. John's Northwest Military prep school in Wisconsin and will enroll at NKU for the 2013-14 school year.
"I'm so excited; I couldn't be any happier," Danos said. "The facilities are great and the coaching staff really reached out to me. They're great people in Northern Kentucky and that's what I looked for."
Before arriving at Noll, Danos led Aurora Christian to the Illinois Elite Eight in the 2010-11 season, averaging 19.8 points and 5.5 assists per game.
"They said I'll be a big part of the NKU program right away, so they're expecting big things and I'm ready for the challenge," Danos said.
In the meantime, he's using prep school to improve his game, grades, and overall maturity.
"It gives me an extra year," Danos said. "It's a trend now that prep school is an option. It's a great chance for kids who can't make it academically or who get hurt and have to sit out.
"They get another opportunity to play, in front of (college) coaches again."
