Valparaiso (7-22, 4-13 Horizon League) vs. Butler (17-12, 11-6)

When: 1:35 p.m. today.

Where: Athletics-Recreation Center.

Radio/Internet: WVUR-FM (95.1)/valpoathletics.com.

Valparaiso will win if: It improves from the field. VU was held to 32.1 percent shooting, 22.2 from 3-point range, in a 61-49 loss to Butler on Jan. 2.  Senior guard Rashida Ray scored a career-high 21 points in last Saturday's 70-69 loss to Milwaukee. Ray was 7-of-8 from 3-point range, and the 87.5 clip is a school record for players with a minimum of seven 3-point attempts in a game.

Butler win if: It comes up with another scoring spurt. An early second-half 10-0 run led the way to the Jan. 2 victory.

Notes: Valparaiso can still earn the eighth, ninth, or 10th seed in next week's conference tournament. If Youngstown State defeats Loyola and Valpo wins, the Crusaders finish as the eight seed. If YSU wins and Valpo loses, Valpo will be the 10th seed.  If Loyola defeats the Penguins, Valpo will be the ninth seed. ... Ray, Stephanie Thomas, and Kelly Watts will all be honored prior to the Senior Day game. -- Jim Hunsley
