When: 1 p.m. today.
Where: Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Radio/Internet: WVUR-FM (95.1)/valpoathletics.com.
Valparaiso will win if: It can receive an increased performance from senior Kelly Watts. In her first game back from a knee injury, the E.C. Central grad had seven points and seven rebounds over 17 minutes of play in last Thursday's 65-58 win over Eastern Illinois. Another quality performance on the glass couldn't hurt. Tabitha Gerardot, who recorded her fifth double-double of the season, and Gina Lange each had 10 rebounds against the Panthers. VU outrebounded Eastern Illinois 44-29.
Butler will win if: It can force turnovers. The Crusaders committed 25 in the EIU win, which led to 26 Panther points. A continued balanced scoring attack would also help the Bulldogs. Brittany Bowen (15.6), Chloe Hamilton (12.4) and Alyssa Pittman (11) all average double figures for the Butler, which is 3-1 at home this season.
Notes: The Bulldogs lead the series 18-5, including seven straight victories at Hinkle. Valpo's last win at Butler came in 1983. ... VU is 2-1 in Horizon League openers. !~ Jim Hunsley
