Illinois basketball recruit Michael Orris said the firing of Bruce Weber has not changed his commitment to the school.
Orris, a point guard for Crete-Monee, signed with Illinois in November. He was the only incoming player in the 2012 recruiting class.
Weber was fired Friday, a day after Illinois fell to Iowa in the opening round of the Big Ten Conference tournament.
"It doesn't change anything for me," Orris told The Times on Friday. "We'll wait and see (who is hired).
"We have to move forward."
Orris said he was not shocked when first-year Illinois athletic director Mike Thomas fired Weber following Illinois' 17-15 finish -- the team is expected to play in the NIT postseason tournament.
"I don't think anyone saw it as a surprise," Orris said. "People thought about it, but you don't know until it actually happens.
"Coach Weber is a great coach and even better person. I certainly wish him the best of luck."
