Nobody has to tell E'Twaun Moore what a cold, harsh business professional sports are.
The former E.C. Central and Purdue standout is learning it firsthand.
On Thursday, the 6-foot-4 guard was traded from Boston to the Houston Rockets, along with teammate JaJuan Johnson, for Courtney Lee.
But on Friday, a blog from Boston radio station WEEI cited a source saying Moore would be released by the Rockets and may join former Celtics assistant Tom Thibodeau, now head coach of the Bulls.
Moore could not be reached for comment, but his agent, Chicago-based Mark Bartelstein, agreed only partly with the radio report.
"The Rockets are probably not going to keep E'Twaun. Their roster is pretty full, so they'll probably release him, and he'll go on waivers where we assume a number of teams will be really interested in him," Bartelstein said.
"We assume he'll be claimed by somebody."
The WEEI source said the 6-10 Johnson does not expect to report to Houston and is keeping his options open. Bartelstein does not represent Johnson, a first-round pick in 2011, and could not comment on his situation.
Moore, a late second-round draft pick, appeared in only 38 regular-season games as a Boston rookie, averaging 2.9 points with a career-high 16 coming in a wild comeback win at Orlando on Jan. 26.
He had five points in nine playoff games.
"A number of teams have called (Friday), so we'll just see what happens and let the process play itself out," Bartelstein said. "He's had a great summer.
"He's probably been the best guard in the (NBA) summer league this year. Between the Orlando Summer League and the Las Vegas Summer League, he's probably played at the highest level of any guard. There's no question he's going to have a terrific NBA career."
Bartelstein wouldn't comment on the shorthanded Bulls being a possible frontrunner for Moore's services.
"I think we'll know better by the beginning of next week," he did say.
