Andrew Huck threw for 136 yards and ran for 81 yards and touchdown to lead Butler over Davidson 14-7 Saturday.

The victory kept the Bulldogs unbeaten this season at 8-0 overall and 5-0 in the Pioneer Football League, while the Wildcats fell to 2-6 and 2-4.

Huck completed 14 of 26 pass attempts to six receivers, without an interception. Butler's Scott Gray, a Lowell grad, carried 14 times for 117 yards, while Ryan Hitchcock logged eight carries for 58 yards and a TD. Lowell alum David Lang kicked two extra points in the win.

Crusaders lose sixth straight

Marist 24, Valparaiso 0: Valparaiso University's football team had its share of scoring opportunities in the first half Saturday afternoon against host Marist.

The Crusaders failed to cash in, then the Red Foxes played keep away in the second half en route to their Pioneer Football League win in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

"We just need to find a way to put the ball in the end zone," VU coach Stacy Adams said.

Adams remains hopeful the Crusaders (1-7, 0-5), who have lost six straight, will continue to improve over the final three games of the season.

"We just have to continue to work to play together," he said.

Close call for Cardinals

Ohio 20, Ball State 17: Theo Scott found Terrence McCrae for a 7-yard touchdown with just over 3 minutes remaining Saturday to lift Ohio.

The pair also accounted for a 2-point conversion following the TD, giving the Bobcats (6-3, 4-1 Mid-American) a 20-17 lead. Before the touchdown with 3:11 to go, Ohio's only scoring had come on four Matt Weller field goals.

Ohio led throughout the second half until Tanner Justice's 35-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Hill gave Ball State (1-8, 1-4) a 17-12 lead with 5:52 remaining. That play accounted for nearly half of the Cardinals' 78 yards of passing in the game.

Brown leads ISU in loss

Southern Illinois 33, Indiana State 0: Portage grad Antoine Brown ran 18 times for 36 yards for the Sycamores (1-8, 1-5).

Pumas lose at home

Southwest Baptist 28, Saint Joseph's 16: Gary native Terrence Freeman had 19 rushing yards for the Pumas (4-6), who also had 25 receiving yards from Robert Dutton (Morton).

Gators dominate Georgia, again

No. 1 Florida 41, Georgia 17: Tim Tebow accounted for four touchdowns, A.J. Jones had two huge interceptions and Florida beat the Bulldogs for its 17th win in the last 20 meetings between the Southeastern Conference rivals.

The Gators (8-0, 6-0) extended the nation's longest winning streak to 18 games.

Bearcats keep rolling

No. 5 Cincinnati 28, Syracuse 7: Zach Collaros threw four touchdown passes to get the Bearcats (8-0, 4-0 Big East) within a win of the best start in school history.

Boise State routs San Jose State

No. 6 Boise State 45, San Jose State 7: Kellen Moore threw for 278 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another as Boise State (8-0, 3-0 Western Athletic Conference) coasted.

TCU shuts out UNLV

No. 8 TCU 41, UNLV 0: Andy Dalton threw three touchdown passes, Ed Wesley scored running and catching the ball and the TCU defense smothered UNLV to get its first shutout of the season.

Nittany Lions pound Wildcats

No. 12 Penn State 34, Northwestern 13: Penn State shut out Northwestern in the second half and the Nittany Lions scored three fourth-quarter touchdowns in less than four minutes.

Daryll Clark threw a 53-yard TD pass to Derek Moye and Evan Royster broke off a 69-yard scoring run to highlight the fourth-quarter surge that took 3 minutes, 40 seconds.

Cougars win shootout

No. 15 Houston 50, Southern Miss 43: Case Keenum threw for a career-high 559 yards and had five touchdowns, his last coming with 21 seconds remaining for the Cougars (7-1, 3-1 Conference USA

Buckeyes manhandle opposition

No. 17 Ohio St. 45, New Mexico St. 0: Dane Sanzenbacher caught two touchdown passes and Terrelle Pryor threw for one and ran for another.

Hurricanes step up late

No. 18 Miami 28, Wake Forest 27: Jacory Harris threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Travis Benjamin with 1:08 left.

Tigers knock off Rebels

Auburn 33, No. 24 Mississippi 20: Chris Todd passed for 212 yards, Ben Tate ran for 144 yards and Walt McFadden returned an interception for a touchdown.

Illini take down Michigan

Illinois 38, Michigan 13: Juice Williams broke loose against Michigan again and Illinois stopped the Wolverines on four plays from the 1 before running all over the Wolverines.

Mikel LeShoure ran 70 yards for a touchdown following the fourth-down stop, and Illinois (2-6, 1-5) rolled up 377 yards.
