Pioneer Football League
Marist (2-5, 1-3) at Valparaiso (0-7, 0-4)
When: 1 p.m. today.
Where: Brown Field.
Radio/Internet: WAKE-AM (1500)/valpoathletics.com.
Valparaiso will win if: It can duplicate the fast starts it had at home against Drake and Duquesne, but then maintain that execution for the entire game. The Crusaders have had good stretches this season, and if they can duplicate those efforts, they could pull off their first victory of the season.
Marist will win if: It can finish. Marist led Drake 27-3 last week before falling to the Bulldogs 34-27 in overtime. Two weeks ago the Red Foxes hung with Butler for nearly the entire game before falling 17-14. If Marist can win the fourth quarter, it can likely win the game.
Notes: Valparaiso has never beaten Marist, losing all three meetings since the Red Foxes joined the Pioneer Football League. ... Valparaiso sophomore quarterback Ben Lehman is projected to earn his third consecutive start as normal starter Eric Hoffman continues to recover from a leg injury. !~ Paul Oren
