Carolina (3-3) at Tampa Bay (0-6)

When: 7:30 p.m. today.

TV: NFL Network (cable).

Line: Panthers -6 (40.5).

The skinny: The Panthers are on a nice little roll, winning two straight by a combined total of 65-25 against two mediocre teams in the Vikings and Rams. The beauty of playing the Bucs is that the Bucs are well below mediocre as one of just two winless teams in the league, so this seems like it should be a cakewalk. Tampa has covered the spread just once this year, but the reality is the Bucs' six losses have been by an average of just about a touchdown a game. They're a team in turmoil and have been from jump street, and that doesn't bode well against a team with a hot hand. The Panthers should have plenty of weapons to get it done, but that doesn't mean it'll be an utter blowout.

MattE's pick: Panthers 29, Bucs 20.
