New Orleans (8-2) at Atlanta (2-8)

When: 7:30 p.m. today.

TV: NFL Network (cable).

Line: Saints -9.5 (53.5)

The skinny: Before the season, this looked like it would be the type of game that featured a couple teams with eights in their records vying for the NFC South lead. Part of that turned out to be true, but the eight for the Falcons is on decidedly the wrong side of the line. The season is done for the Falcons, for all intents and purposes. Winning out with make them 8-8, and that's not going to make the playoffs. Do they have what it takes to play spoiler? I'm guessing not. The Saints are playing for plenty. With the NFC-leading Seahawks off this week, the Saints can get to within a game in the race for home-field advantage in the playoffs, and that can prove to be huge. Expect a big week from Drew Brees and a big win for the Saints.

MattE's pick: Saints 38, Falcons 17
