MUNSTER | The pressure is on Andrean pitcher Zac Ryan, and he says he can feel it.

Despite throwing a five-inning, one-hit shutout during the 59ers' 12-0 win against Northwest Crossroads Conference rival Munster, Ryan and his coach called the performance "disappointing."

The Georgia Tech-bound junior also walked five Munster batters and struck out four.

"I didn't have great stuff today, but we did good defensively," Ryan said. "We got to a lot of balls and made a lot of plays. Thankfully we have a good defense."

"He was behind in the count, had three balls too many times, he walked too many hitters, he didn't have a good breaking pitch, he didn't strike out enough guys in my opinion for me to know as a team where we need to be," Andrean coach Dave Pishkur said. "Down the road, he's got a lot of things to work on before his next start."

After Andrean nabbed a 3-0 lead in the first inning, Munster loaded the bases in the bottom half, threatening to tie the game. The 59ers defense held off the offensive danger and the Mustangs reached second base only one other time in the game.

"We put too many guys on base, either with walks or hit batters, and they came up with the big hits," Munster coach Bob Shinkan said. "Once they had us down, they had that killer instinct and they went after it. If in the first inning we might have been able to get a big hit with guys in scoring position, our attitudes might have changed a little bit and who knows what might have happened?"

Instead, Andrean found its timely hitting, knocking 10 hits and taking advantage of two Munster errors and seven Mustang walks. Mike Brosseau was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs and Cody Haver was 1-for-3 with three RBIs.

"We've been in a rhythm the last couple games and getting the sticks going," Brosseau said. "We're getting the lineup more consistent and guys are figuring out where they belong in the lineup. We've got a lot of situational hitting going on and that's one of our primary things we do at practice when we take BP, because situations come along and you have to execute."

While the Andrean offense found its rhythm, Ryan was slowing down his cadence to find command of his breaking pitch.

"It wasn't a swing-and-miss breaking pitch and it has to be a swing-and-miss breaking pitch," Pishkur said. "He didn't change eye location a lot. As a coach, we need him to step it up a little more. Looking at our big pitcher, he needs to be a little more dominating."
