Scouting report: The Times Player of the Year did not allow an earned run in four postseason appearances. The lefty struck out 36 hitters in three postseason starts. The Arizona State recruit was also a 37th-round pick of the Seattle Mariners. He came back from some midseason soreness in his left arm and led the Spartans to the Class 3A state title. He was also 6-for-8 in the two state final games.
Jesse Lopez, Washington

Scouting report: Lopez was all-city and all-Public League Ernie Banks Division as he led the Patriots to the division title. He was the team MVP and threw two no-hitters. His six home runs and 47 RBIs led area sluggers.

Scouting report: Hayes is a pure hitter and the left-handed hitter has extraordinary power. Coach Brian Hurry said he was a presence in the middle of the Caravan's lineup and expects even bigger things from him in 2013.

Scouting report:The lefty was the ace of the Vikings staff and one of the best pitchers in the SouthWest Suburban Blue. Coach Todd Sippel said he is one of the best pitchers to come out of H-F, right with John Ely and Aaron Hauge. Lietz will play at Heartland Community College in Normal.

Scouting report: The most outstanding player in the Catholic League Red, Lopez led the area and state in strikeouts, according to maxpreps.com. He also played first base for the Pioneers.

Scouting report: The River Valley Conference's player of the year, Aring was one of the reasons the Bobcats again won the RVC title. He averaged 1.5 strikeouts per inning.

Scouting report: McLaughlin was an Illinois Coaches Association East all-star as well as a Southland Athletic Conference pick. A four-year starter, he led the team in batting, hits, doubles and home runs. His 58 hits led the area. McLaughlin was second in RBIs and struck out just nine times. McLaughlin will play at Kankakee Community College.
Sam Kint, Mount Carmel

Scouting report: A Catholic League Blue pick, Kint led the team in hits and RBIs. He could drive the ball to all fields and wasn't afraid to sacrifice himself to move the runner over. His height and reach was also good for a few extra outs on close plays or wide throws.
Cameron Bass, Crete-Monee

Stats: .349 avg., 37 H, 9 2B, 2 HR, 36 RBIs, 16 SB, .509 slug. pct., .432 on-base pct.
Scouting report: An all-Southland pick, Bass led the team in RBIs and struck out just six times. He was 16-of-17 in stolen base attempts and was very solid defensively.
Ben Kirchler, Homewood-Flossmoor

Scouting report: Anchored the Vikings middle infield. Coach Todd Sippel said he is the best offensive shortstop he ever coached. He will play at Allegheny (Pa.) College. He was caught stealing just twice.

Scouting report: Cifelli was the catalyst for the Marian offense and stole a school single-season record 54 bases. His lone prep homer came in the Class 3A state semifinals. He committed just two errors all season and will play at John Carroll University.
