RICHTON PARK | It's still early in the girls bowling season, but the stars may be aligning for T.F. South this season.
Two of those stars, Shannon Pollard (1,188) and Kayla Garcia (1,134), finished second and third respectively to help lead the Rebels to a 1st place team finish at the Rich East Invitational at Lakewood Bowl.
Lauren Hart was ninth as all five Rebels bowlers finished in the top 20. The Rebels outscored second-place Reavis 5,229-4,898.
"We bowled really good and strong as a team," Pollard said. "We're looking pretty good for the season. We'll just look to see what happens because we are going to have a good season."
T.F North's Kadejah Stephens finished in sixth place in the individual standings and helped lead the Meteors to a 7th place team finish. Stephens felt she could have made some minor adjustments but was happy with her performance nonetheless.
"I feel like I could have done better making small adjustments when the lanes dried up very quickly," Stephens said, "but for the most part I did pretty well."
T.F. South is setting the sky as the limit this bowling season, and Garcia is happy and ready to be a big part of the Rebels chance at success.
"Today we kept our energy and we kept on cheering for each other," Garcia said. "We did really good. It's hard to tell what's going to happen, but I think we can make it to state this year."
Rebels coach Bob Quayle has seen his team mature over the past two seasons, and he said this season could possibly be one to remember for T.F. South bowling.
"It was great today," Quayle said. "We've been waiting two years for this team to mature, and they've been bowling good. It's always somebody picking somebody up, and they shot real well today."
