Carson Cunningham led Andrean to the Class 3A Northern Semistate in March. After the 68-63 overtime loss to Fort Wayne Concordia and the coming loss of nine seniors, the Purdue grad was asked if he would return as the 59ers coach.
He said, "I plan on being back. But we're going to talk about it.”
On Monday night Cunningham confirmed that he is interviewing for a college coaching position at Carroll College in Montana.
In an email to The Times, Cunningham wrote, "I am flattered that Montana's Carroll College, one of the West's leading academic institutions and an NAIA athletic power, has invited me out to talk further about being its next head men's basketball coach. When I return from Montana I can comment further."
Cunningham is 81-39 in five years as the head coach at his alma mater. He's won four sectional championships and his team broke the Plymouth Regional curse by beating the hosts 70-60 in overtime.
