WHITING — Andrean's unstoppable offense lead the 59ers to a 75-52 victory over Bishop Noll and its third sectional title in the last five years.
Andrean forward Kyle Ross set the tone and had a huge first quarter for his team, scoring eight of his first-half 13 points.
"My coaches said they're a lot smaller than us and let's get a post touches, get the ball down low, and finish," Ross said.
Ross lead all scorers with 21 points.
Bishop Noll made a push in the second quarter as the Warriors cut the lead down to seven. In the closing seconds of the second quarter, Isaiah Hymes suffered an injury that sidelined him for the rest of the game.
"He has had a bum knee all year," Bishop Noll coach Josh Belluomini said.
The third quarter was all Andrean, as the Niners out-scored Bishop Noll, 24-13.
Belluomini said it was tough for the Warriors to run a press without the senior guard Hymes on the floor.
"Huge, huge disadvantage to us," Belluomini said. "He is such a quick guard. We lose him and now our bench gets a lot shorter."
Not only were the Warriors without Hymes, but Brandon Scott struggled, unable to score in the third quarter and had just five in the fourth.
"We closed the gaps," Andrean coach Brad Stangel said. "We had to run three different guys at him just to kind of wear him out, because he is a terrific basketball player."
Scott finished with 15 points.
Andrean went on a 9-3 run to start the fourth and that gave the 59ers their largest lead of the night at 24 points.
Andrean made its last five free throws to close it out and advance to Saturday's North Judson Regional.
