PLYMOUTH | When Plymouth lost its inside presence, Andrean's Skylar Moss stood his ground.

Moss, who was pestered inside through the entire Class 3A regional championship game, found an opening he could drive a mack truck through.

With Plymouth 6-foot-9 forward Mack Mercer out on fouls with 2:35 left in overtime, Moss scored six straight points and gave Andrean a cushion that led to a 70-60 regional title.

"We know (Mercer) is a good player and scouted by a lot of good teams, but we were able to really attack him coming off of ball screens and stuff like that," Niners senior Nick Davidson said. "We were able to get him into foul trouble in the early stages of the game and that went over.

"When he came out of the game we knew we needed to attack that paint, he made it very difficult. When he came out of the game, you could tell that it really opened up."

Davidson, who scored 10 of his 18 points in the third quarter, secured a double-double with 10 assists. He had eight of those assists in the second half.

Andrean, which became the first Lake County team to win a regional title at Plymouth since 2003, had an 11-point lead evaporate in the fourth quarter.

Plymouth pecked away, and completed the run when Joe Knapp hit a 3-pointer with a second left on the clock to send the 51-51 game into overtime.

That's when Moss took over.

"I think Skylar realized this is my time," Andrean coach Carson Cunningham said. "I'm really impressed with his ability to get his fitness level so high and play with such a high level over two games, he was phenomenal."

Moss scored 25 points in the regional semifinal win against Lew Wallace that took the Niners to the final.

Senior Collin Wojcik hit eight 3s on the day, including four in the title game and one in overtime that gave Andrean a 56-53 lead. Wojcik finished with 16 points.

Plymouth was led by Knapp's 20 points and Mercer added 18 points with six blocks and countless pestering that altered Andrean shots.

"These guys have been through so many tough games," Cunningham said. "I'll take this team over any other team. If I'm going into overtime in the regional, give me these guys."
