Newcomer to watch: Antonio Pipkin, Sr., G. The quarterback will stay under center this winter. His football toughness will be expanded as he gets more minutes. He will be on the floor for reason, "He plays hard all of the time," Rea said.

Breakdown

Bowman back at it

The Eagles lost seven seniors to graduation and college basketball, with the Big 3 being DeJuan Marrero (DePaul), Elijah Ray (IUPUI) and Stephan Hawkins (Robert Morris). Yet the goal to get back to Indianapolis does not change. Two transfers — Davon Dillard (Gary Lighthouse) and Stacey Whitt (Michigan City) — will help boost a roster filled with talent. Bowman plays one of the state's toughest schedules. "We do not have one player back who started for us," coach Marvin Rea said. "We are young. We want to improve every game." Dillard is being recruited by everyone, including North Carolina. Whitt is 6-foot-8 and will give King some help in the paint. It may take the Eagles time to find their feet, but by March this team will likely be dangerous. "We want to get back down that road," Rea said. "That is our goal." — Steve Hanlon
