Last season finish: 17-4, 6-0 NCC. Lost in Class 4A West Side sectional opener to Lake Central
Inside the Mustangs
Leading returning scorer: Nate Bubash, 15.4 ppg
Leading returning rebounder: Bubash, 7.1 rpg
Star power: Michael Schlotman, Sr., G. The William & Mary-bound point guard just keeps getting better. The Indiana Junior All-Star worked hard on his offense and should be more aggressive this season.
Newcomer to watch: Craig Dedelow, Sr., F. The guard has moved to forward and will not just be a 3-point specialist. This high IQ kid will bang inside with the big boys now.
Can this be the year?
The proud Mustangs had their three-year run as sectional champions snapped by Lake Central last season. Coach Mike Hackett has one of the best two-man games in Michael Schlotman and Nate Bubash. The development of Drew Hackett will be key. Expect much more from the coach's son. Bubash was not only a beast in the paint, he hit 12 3-pointers. This will be a typical Munster team with great defense and steady, sure offense. Munster hasn't lost a NCC game since the conference was created. Expect a big crowd and a great game when the Mustangs travel to Andrean at the end of the year. "We would like to win our conference again," Mike Hackett said. "We'd like to get back to winning the sectional again. Lake Central is the favorite, but I like what we have."
