Gavit's Cedric Smith was a load inside, scoring 11 points and pulling down a game-high 13 rebounds as the Gladiators edged Highland 60-56 in the fifth-place game of the Calumet Tournament on Wednesday.
Jaylen Simmons led Gavit (4-4) with 18 points.
Highland (5-4) was up 30-25 at halftime, but suffered from an eight-point third quarter, which allowed the Gladiators to take control.
The Trojans were led by Jordan Minch's 17 points. Brandon Reyes had 16 points while Keith Mahler contributed 10.
Highland 84, Campagna Academy 30: Minch (20 points), Mahler (19) and Tyler Ryzewski (15) all scored double-figures for the Trojans in the loser's bracket game.
Highland shot 18-of-20 from the free throw line and went up 42-14 at halftime.
Highland committed just three first-half turnovers, but had 12 miscues after the break.
Campagna's Bryan Brown scored 12 points to lead the Eagles. The Eagles were held to single-digit scoring in each quarter.
South Bend Clay 49, Lake Station 38: Lake Station's Ricky Garcia scored 12 points, but it wasn't enough as the Eagles (4-2) struggled offensively after a 21-point first quarter in the loss to South Bend Clay in the second semifinal game of the Calumet Tournament.
The Eagles managed just nine second-half points after holding a 29-25 lead at halftime.
The Colonials (4-4) were inconsistent on offense as well, getting a team-high 10 points from Donovan Campbell.
Calumet 80, Campagna Academy 28: Leventes Strong led the Warriors with 22 points in the seventh-place game of the Calumet Tournament.
Daniel Readus had 18 points and Taj McCain scored 11 to help pace Calumet (3-5), which led 46-14 at halftime after exploding for a 27-point first quarter.
Chris Reyes scored 12 points, including seven in the fourth quarter to lead the Eagles (1-6).
