INDIANAPOLIS | No one can predict the future.
But if Bishop Noll's returning players have their way and are able to regroup, they plan on returning to Conseco Fieldhouse next March and not to watch the Indiana Pacers play.
File this under unfinished business.
Indianapolis Park Tudor beat the Warriors 43-42 in Saturday's 2A state title game but with only three seniors on this team -- one of whom started -- coach Drew Trost will return a strong nucleus.
"Work hard to get back to this point and finish what I didn't finish," said senior Adonis Filer, Noll's leading scorer all season. "Never take anything for granted. Just leave it all on the court."
Filer had issued a personal challenge to 6-foot-8 Milos Kostic (2 points), 6-4 Ronnye Beamon (11), John Dodson (4), 6-2 Larry Crisler (2) -- who re-injured his broken nose late and couldn't finish -- and 6-3 Jose Rosario (2).
And they were listening.
"Motivation is always key for a team and we have a lot of it," Rosario said. "It wasn't an easy road. It's not going to be an easy road any year. Hopefully, though, it'll be a different result.
"We hadn't lost in over a year. We just lost right now. I keep thinking about little things we could've done differently but Park Tudor was the better team today. They beat us."
Crisler's loss was felt down the stretch as the Panthers gained momentum with each possession.
"Larry brings a lot of energy. He's our leading rebounder. And we lost on offensive rebounds," Rosario said.
Beamon led Noll with nine rebounds against the Panthers. Rosario grabbed eight.
"Everyone's got to put in work over the summer. We got a little taste, a little tease. Got to come back and take it next time. We have the potential. We have the work ethic," Rosario said.
"We'll definitely be back," Beamon added. "We're gonna work hard, night in and night out, day and night."
He then sent a message to Noll's loyal following.
"Sorry. We tried our hardest. But we know what we have to do now," Beamon said. "We're gonna come back and definitely bring a lot more energy."
