Boone Grove (15-6): The Wolves have won seven of their last eight games with victories over Hanover Central, 32-29, and North Judson, 40-35, last week. Senior Claudia Cooper totaled 10 points in the two games to move over the 400 mark to 403. Boone has won seven consecutive games from the Bluejays after losing the first five games of the series.
Chesterton (5-15): The Trojans snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 57-21 thumping of Highland. They then dropped a 51-46 decision to Valparaiso. Junior Caroline Puntillo matched her personal best with 22 points against the Vikings and became the 22nd player in Chesterton history to reach the 500-point plateau. She has 517 points. Junior Sarah Richards scored a career-high 11 points against Highland.
Hanover Central (12-7): The Wildcats bounced back from a loss to Boone with a 58-44 win over LaCrosse. It was their 25th consecutive victory over the Tigers in the series. Senior Tiphani Ward scored 10 points against the Tigers to move over the 300 mark to 302. Freshman Brooke Sterkowitz added a personal-best 10 points.
Kouts (10-10): Kouts has a 36-6 advantage in its series with Wheeler after beating the Bearcats 50-39.
Morgan Township (11-10): Junior Hannah Murphy equaled her personal best with 10 points in a 48-34 victory over Washington Township.
Portage (13-9): The Indians defeated Munster 54-41 and lost to Lake Central 59-55. Senior Nikki Monahan totaled 54 points in the two games to move over the 1,100 mark to 1,136. Her 32-point barrage against Lake Central matched her career best. Monahan moved past 1986 Morgan grad Ann Nicholson and 1990 Boone Grove grad Tracy Hartman into 17th place on the all-time Porter County scoring list.
Valparaiso (3-17): Following a 55-14 loss to Hobart, the Vikings responded with a five-point win over Chesterton that ended an 11-game losing streak. The loss to Hobart was just Valpo's fourth in 40 meetings between the two schools.
Washington Township (8-12): The Senators suffered a 14-point loss to Morgan, earned a 52-32 win over River Forest and fell 63-38 to Mishawaka Marian to close out the regular season. Sophomore Heather Burton totaled 46 points in the three games to become the 18th player in Senators history to reach 500 points. Burton has 521 points. It was the Senators' first meeting with Marian.
Westville (4-16): The Blackhawks, on an 11-game losing streak entering last week, finished the regular season with three consecutive wins. They defeated River Forest, 57-47, Lake Station, 51-40, and Gary Lighthouse, 62-21. Senior Shaina Jacks matched her personal best with 17 points against the Eagles and went over the 300 mark for her career. Sophomore Stephanie Popp (10) and senior Krysten Wilson (10) each recorded a career best against the Ingots.
Wheeler (8-12): Senior Nickole Finch matched her season high with 25 points in a loss to Kouts.
Boys
Boone Grove (10-6): The Wolves topped Wheeler, 57-48, and North Judson, 49-36. The win over the Bluejays gives the Wolves an 8-7 advantage in the series. Junior Jon Hogg totaled 29 points in the two games to move over the 300 mark to 325. Senior Daniel Malouhos added 23 points to go over the 400 mark to 407. The 14-point effort by Malouhos against Wheeler matched his personal best.
Chesterton (9-7): The Trojans dropped a 56-54 decision to Valpo despite a career-high 22 points from sophomore center Matt Holba. Sophomore Chris Palombizio added 12 points to move over the 300 mark to 303.
Hanover Central (11-6): The Wildcats defeated LaCrosse 81-64, improving their Porter County Conference record to 6-0. A victory at Kouts on Feb. 15 would give Hanover the outright PCC title. Senior center Sean Kelly fired in a career-best 23 points and moved over the 200 mark to 211. Senior Dan Kubiak added six points to move over the 300 mark to 302.
Hebron (9-7): Senior Spencer Sheets tallied 16 points in a 45-41 win over River Forest to move over the 300 mark for his career to 305. The Hawks have a 41-16 advantage in the series with the Ingots.
Kouts (15-2): The Mustangs, winners of eight of their last nine games, drilled Knox 78-41. Kouts has held the opposition under 50 points in 11 of its 17 games.
LaCrosse (2-12): Junior Bryce Guse totaled 44 points in a 17-point loss to Hanover and a 70-45 loss to North White to move over the 300 mark to 316. Guse recorded a career-high 33 points against Hanover, including a school-record nine treys. Senior Riley Charlesworth also tallied 44 points in the two games, moving up to 22nd on the Tigers scoring list. He needs 10 points to pass his coach, Scot Spoljaric.
Morgan Township (5-11): The Cherokees defeated South Central 56-50 in overtime before falling to Wheeler 75-49. Senior Austin Porter equaled his best with 10 points against the Satellites. Senior Ryan Klikus accounted for 23 points against Wheeler to move over the 900 mark for his career to 906. Klikus moved past 2008 grad Troy Turner and 1997 grad Jake Spratley into the top 10 on the Morgan scoring list.
Valparaiso (14-3): The Vikings' two-point victory over Chesterton was their 12th consecutive win in the series. Winners of seven of its last eight games, Valpo also topped Bishop Noll 61-46. The Vikings have held their opposition to less than 50 points on 11 occasions this season. Senior center John Mosser totaled 47 points in the two games, including a personal-best 25 against Noll.
Washington Township (10-6): The Senators’ 47-42 win over Hebron was their 10th victory of the season, which represents the most wins at Washington since the 2005-06 team went 11-10.
Westville (5-9): Junior Collin Walker equaled his career high of 23 points in a 69-66 overtime win over Oregon-Davis. The Blackhawks have won their last four matchups with the Bobcats.
Wheeler (9-7): Senior Jason Graf led four players in double figures with 17 points in the Bearcats' 26-point win over Morgan.
