Boone Grove (18-7): The Wolves defeated Whiting 52-33 before falling to Fort Wayne Luers 67-40 in the championship game of the Class 2A Rochester Regional on Saturday. Senior Paige Aguilera totaled 39 points in the two games, including a personal-best 26 against Whiting. She went over the 500 mark for her career and finished 19th on the Boone scoring list, behind 1985 grad Liz Hirsh. Coach Candy Wilson record her 12th consecutive winning season with the Wolves.
Chesterton (5-16): Junior Caroline Puntillo has 535 career points, which ranks 20th at Chesterton, behind 1983 grad Becky Inman. Puntillo’s season scoring average of 16.7 tied for the fifth best in the school’s history.
Hanover Central (14-8): The Wildcats recorded their best record since the 2001 team finished with a 14-8 mark. Senior guard Blayr Poston finished as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,345 points. Her season scoring average of 20.2 is the all-time best at Hanover. Junior Kristen Roper has 473 points, which ranks 23rd on the Wildcats' scoring list.
Hebron (8-12): Senior Bre Lewin finished with 458 points, which is tied for 21st at Hebron with 2006 grad Heidi Freund. Lewin’s 13.6 scoring average is the best since Jessica Sheets’ 15.3 mark in 2006.
Kouts (10-11): The Fillies snapped a string of nine consecutive winning seasons. Sophomore Jayla Crump has 442 career points and ranks 33rd on the Kouts' scoring list, behind 2005 grad Nicole Griffey.
LaCrosse (8-14): Coach Brian McMahan finished with the school’s best record since the 2003 team went 8-13. The Tigers' defensive scoring average of 42.2 is the best since the 1983 team posted a 40.6 mark. Seniors Gabbie Sievers and Taylor Guse concluded their careers with 489 and 458 points respectively. Sievers ranks 12th and Guse 15th on the school scoring list.
Morgan Township (14-11): The Cherokees lost to Oregon-Davis 61-39 in the opening round of the Class A Caston Regional. Junior Trina Coleman scored 18 points, giving her 898 for her career, which ranks eighth on the school's scoring list.
Portage (13-10): Senior Nicki Monahan finished as the Indians’ all-time leading scorer with 1,157 points. She's 17th on the Porter County scoring list, behind 1994 Boone Grove grad Jennifer Sliwa. Monahan’s 390 points this season is tied for the second most ever at Portage.
South Central (12-8): The Satellites posted their best record since the 2006 team went 20-2. Junior Jill Rosenbaum has 754 career points, which ranks ninth at South Central.
Valparaiso (3-18): Sophomore Grace Withrow has 466 career points, which ranks in a tie for 28th on the school scoring list with 1990 grad Kristen (Follis) Peterson.
Washington Township (9-13): Sophomore Heather Burton scored 337 points this season, the fourth best ever at Washington. Her 560 career points places her 13th on the Senators' scoring list, behind 2009 grad Liz Leuck.
Westville (4-17): Senior Shaina Jacks finished with 356 points, which ranks 22nd in Westville history.
Wheeler (9-13): Junior Nickole Finch has 926 points and ranks third on the Wheeler scoring list behind Becca Bruszewski and Andrea Walker. She is tied for 44th on the county scoring list with 2012 Boone grad Brittany Shaffer.
Boone Grove (12-7): The Wolves topped Hebron, 55-30, and Lake Station, 51-49, giving them four wins in the last five contests. The game with Hebron was the 200th meeting between the two schools. Hebron leads the series 114-86.
Chesterton (10-8): The Trojans defeated LaPorte 70-55 for their fourth consecutive win over the Slicers.
Hanover Central (13-7): The Wildcats defeated Whiting 61-39 before losing to Kouts 43-41, ending their winning streak at seven games. Senior Max Johnson scored 18 points against the Mustangs to move over the 800 mark for his career to 810. In the process, he moved past 1997 grad Derek Boss into 10th place at Hanover.
Kouts (17-2): The Mustangs' 43-41 win over Hanover Central clinched at least a share of the Porter County Conference round-robin title. A victory over LaCrosse on Friday would give Kouts its third consecutive undefeated title. A loss would result in Kouts and Hanover sharing the crown.
LaCrosse (3-15): The Tigers lost to North Judson, 68-56, Covenant Christian, 61-54, and Westville, 75-69 in overtime. Senior Riley Charlesworth totaled 68 points in the three games, including a career-high 35 against the Blackhawks. Charlesworth went over the 800-point mark to 857, which ranks 17th at LaCrosse, just ahead of 1993 grad Greg Lawrence. Senior Matt Bennett tallied a season-high 12 points against Westville.
Morgan Township (5-13): Freshman Jake Koselke notched a personal-best 16 points in a 68-61 loss to Westville. Senior Ryan Klikus added 13 points and moved past 1988 grad John Lodics into ninth place on the Cherokees' scoring list.
Portage (10-11): Junior Mike Lattanzi equaled his season high with 10 points in a 52-40 win over Crown Point. The victory was the 298th for coach Rick Snodgrass.
South Central (3-15): Senior Isaiah Thomas recorded a career-high 15 points in the Satellites’ 59-48 win over Knox. The victory ended a 10-game skid for South Central.
Valparaiso (16-3): The Vikings' 60-51 win over Merrillville kept their hopes alive for a share of the Duneland Athletic Conference title. Valpo is 11-2 with Michigan City remaining on the schedule. The Pirates are 12-1 with Portage left. Senior John Mosser scored 19 points, bringing his career total to 500. He is the 64th player in Valpo history to reach that plateau. Senior Zach Meyer matched his career high with 13 points.
Washington Township (13-6): The Senators ran their winning streak to five with wins over Whiting, 51-49, and River Forest, 55-52. The 13 victories by Washington this season is the most since the 1997 team went 14-7. Two more wins for coach Scott Bowersock’s club would give it the most in school history. Senior Bobby Ross scored nine points against the Ingots to become the 34th player at Washington to reach 500 points. Senior Kyle Wolf tallied a career-high 13 points against River Forest.
Westville (9-9): The Blackhawks extended their winning streak to five with wins over Morgan, 68-61, and LaCrosse. The overtime win over LaCrosse evened the series at 69 wins apiece. Junior Alex Henn poured in a personal-best 21 points against the Tigers, and freshman Josh Brownlee tallied a career-high 11 against Morgan. Junior Shawn Gerron totaled 35 points in the two games to move over the 300 mark to 317.
Wheeler (11-7): The Bearcats’ 41-39 win over Kankakee Valley was their sixth straight over the Kougars.
