Chesterton (4-14): The Trojans suffered losses to Merrillville, 69-52, and Lake Central, 69-36, last week, extending their losing streak to eight games. Junior Caroline Puntillo (22) and junior Sarah Richards (10) each recorded a personal best against the Pirates.
Hanover Central (11-6): The Wildcats posted victories over Westville, 72-43, and Kouts, 60-43.
Kouts (9-10): The Fillies topped River Forest 49-24 prior to a loss to Hanover Central. Sophomore Jayla Crump totaled 25 points in the two games to move over the 400 mark to 407.
LaCrosse (6-12): The Tigers recorded wins over Lake Station, 52-35, and South Central, 37-34, before falling to North White, 48-43. The upset victory over the Satellites was the Tigers’ sixth win of the year, representing the most victories in a season since 2002-03. That team won eight games. Senior Gabbie Sievers totaled 54 points in the three games, including a career-high 26 against Lake Station, to move over the 400 mark to 442.
Morgan Township (10-10): Sophomore Lauren Bobinski tossed in a career-high 15 points in a 67-19 victory over Gary 21st Century. Senior Courtney Osby added a season-high 11 points. Junior Trina Coleman netted 18 points in a 49-39 loss to South Central, becoming the ninth player in Cherokee history to reach the 800-point plateau. Coleman ranks 63rd on the Porter County scoring list, behind 2002 Boone Grove grad Val Olis.
Portage (12-8): The Indians lost to Michigan City, 57-52, and LaPorte, 37-22. Senior Nicki Monahan totaled 20 points in the two games to become the top scorer in Portage history with 1,082 points, surpassing 1989 grad Stacy Sheriff. Monahan ranks 21st on the county scoring list, behind 1989 Valparaiso grad Jennifer Cole.
South Central (12-6): The Satellites suffered losses to South Bend Washington, 68-61, and LaCrosse before recording a 10-point win over Morgan that improved their Porter County Conference record to 6-1 and assured them of no worse than a share of the round-robin title. Junior Jill Rosenbaum totaled 28 points in the three games to move over the 700 mark for her career to 720. It also pushed her past Tara Kitchell into ninth place on the Satellites scoring list. Freshman Riley Popplewell had 38 points in the three games and tied her career high with 27 against Washington. She moved over the 200 mark to 216.
Valparaiso (2-16): The Vikings ran their losing streak to 10 games with losses to Lake Central, 59-36, and Crown Point, 51-38. Senior Andi Sarkisian tallied a career-high nine points against the Bulldogs.
Wheeler (8-10): Junior Nickole Finch accounted for 17 of her team’s 23 points in a 37-23 loss to Highland. Finch has 854 career points, which ranks 51st on the county scoring list, behind 1985 Chesterton grad Debbie Ricard.
Boone Grove (8-6): The Wolves dropped decisions to Kouts, 55-49, and Crown Point, 55-42. Seniors Dean Hill and Jake Clapp both went over the 500-point plateau against the Bulldogs. Hill has 506, and Clapp has 503. They became the 55th and 56th players in Boone history to reach that milestone. Senior Daniel Malouhos equaled his personal best with 14 points against Kouts.
Hanover Central (10-6): The PCC tournament champion Wildcats were able to hold on for a 51-46 win over Morgan. Senior guard Max Johnson led the way with 13 points and moved up two spots on the Hanover scoring list to 12th place.
Hebron (8-6): The Hawks defeated North Judson, 53-45, before falling to Rensselaer, 40-26. Hebron stands 3-8 in the series with the Bluejays. The loss to the Bombers dropped it to 23-24 in the series.
Kouts (14-2): The Mustangs’ win over Boone was their fourth straight in the series, but the Wolves still hold the upper hand overall at 96-71. Senior Nick Taylor netted nine points to move over the 500 mark for his career to 507. He is the 59th Kouts player to reach that plateau. Senior Andrew Birky poured in 21 points to go over the 400 mark to 415.
LaCrosse (2-10): Senior Riley Charlesworth fired in 27 points in a 58-56 win over South Central to move into the top 25 on the Tigers scoring list. Junior Bobby Claypool added a career-high 13 points. The victory snapped a nine-game losing streak.
Morgan Township (4-10): The Cherokees bounced back from a five-point loss to Hanover with a 86-82 win over West Central that went four overtimes. It was Morgan’s first four-overtime game in history. Senior Ryan Klikus finished with a season-high 31 points against the Trojans and moved past the late Jake Blastick into 12th place on the Morgan scoring list. Sophomore Chase Braden tallied 23 points to move over the 400 mark to 418. Junior Bo Anderson added a career-best 11 points against West Central.
Portage (9-9): The Indians lost to LaPorte 53-50 before bouncing back with a 53-35 win over Kankakee Valley. Junior Pete Psomadelis notched a career-high 14 points against the Slicers. Portage owns a 22-9 series advantage over the Kougars.
South Central (2-11): Senior Adam Clindaniel recorded a season-high 25 points in a two-point loss to LaCrosse.
Valparaiso (12-3): Junior Justin Osburn tallied a personal-best 19 points in a 51-48 win over Crown Point. The Vikes have won 72 of the 98 games played between the two schools. The Vikings dropped a 57-38 decision to Munster in which senior Quentin Palmer scored five points to reach the 200-point mark.
Washington Township (9-6): Senior Ryan Geberin tallied six points to move over the 300 mark to 301 in a 50-28 victory over Knox.
Wheeler (8-6): The Bearcats topped Calumet 56-39 and lost to Marquette 62-52 in a pair of Greater South Shore Conference games. The win over the Warriors was the sixth straight in the series. Senior Kevin Barnes matched his season high with 18 points against Calumet.
