Girls
Boone Grove (19-3): Coach Candy Wilson's Wolves concluded their 12th consecutive winning season and their sixth undefeated record in the Porter County Conference round robin. The 19 wins rank as the fifth most victories in a season for Boone. The Wolves' 38.0 defensive average marks the fourth consecutive year in which they have held the opposition under 40 points per game. Brittany Shaffer finished her career with 926 points, which ranks eighth on the school scoring list, behind 2010 grad Kelly Dobson. Emily Bobrowski finished with 756 points, which ranks 12th, behind 2011 grad Brittany DeWell. Julie Hogg finished with 455 points, which ranks 23rd.
Hanover Central (13-8): Coach Doug Nelson's Wildcats posted the school's best record since they were 14-8 in 2001. Junior guard Blayr Poston ended the season with 1,001 points, which ranks third at Hanover behind Melanie Brumbaugh and Jordan Kramer.
Kouts (14-9): Coach Ron Kobza's Fillies recorded the school's ninth consecutive winning season. Lexi Sippel finished her career with 701 points, which ranks 14th at Kouts, behind 1995 grad Heather Campbell and 2007 grad Marlie Kneifel. Jenna Jessen finished with 595 points, which ranks 21st, behind 2008 grad Hannah McNeill.
Morgan Township (13-11): Coach Kevin Krieger's Cherokees fell to Oregon-Davis 43-28 in the Class A Caston Regional semifinal last week. Sophomore Trina Coleman finished the season with 576 career points, which ranks 19th at Morgan, behind 2009 grad Beth Garber. Senior Sammy Meschede ended her career with 289 points, good for 35th at Morgan.
Boys
Boone Grove (5-12): Losses to Hebron, 62-43, and Lake Station, 37-36, ran the Wolves' losing streak to eight games. Boone and Hebron have met 198 times on record, with Boone winning 85 and Hebron taking 113.
Chesterton (6-12): Freshman center Matt Holba matched his personal best with 13 points in a 60-51 win over LaPorte.
Hanover Central (10-7): The Wildcats defeated Whiting in overtime, 64-57, before losing to Kouts, 81-80, ending a four-game wining streak. Junior guard Max Johnson totaled 43 points in the two games to move over the 400 mark to 421. Senior Nick Bollenbacher poured in 38 points against the Mustangs. It was Bollenbacher's sixth 30-plus effort of the season. It leaves him just one point shy of 1,400 for his career.
Hebron (18-1): The Hawks ran their winning streak to 17 games with their 19-point win over Boone. Senior Damon Wallace led the way with 17 points and passed 1975 grad Larry Cooley into 35th place on the Hebron scoring list. The Hawks have won five straight from the Wolves.
Kouts (14-3): The Mustangs' win over Hanover improved their record to 6-0 in the PCC and assured them of no worse than a share of the conference title. Hebron has finished its PCC schedule with a 6-1 mark. A Kouts win over LaCrosse on Friday would give the Mustangs the outright title. It would mark the first time in the school's history that it went undefeated in back-to-back seasons in round-robin play. Sophomore Max Everaert equaled his career best with 27 points against the Wildcats. Stephen Keller scored a career-high 22 points and went over the 400 mark to 411. Junior Andrew Birky also notched a personal-best 13 points.
Morgan Township (5-15): The Cherokees dropped their sixth game in the last seven outings with a 64-63 loss to Westville. Senior Brandon Murphy notched a career-high 29, while junior Ryan Klikus added 23 points.
Portage (1-20): The Indians dropped a 63-34 decision to Crown Point for their 18th consecutive defeat. Sophomore Jacob Bearss recorded a personal-best 14 points in the game.
South Central (9-9): The Satellites had a solid week with wins over Argos, 50-40, and Culver, 58-56. Senior center Marcus Kammrath totaled 28 points in the two games to move over the 400 mark to 416.
Valparaiso (12-7): Merrillville edged the Vikings 53-52 for their sixth win in the last seven meetings between the two schools. The Pirates hold a 29-27 edge in the series.
Washington Township (5-13): The Senators saw their losing streak reach six games with a 76-68 loss to Westville, but they brought it to an end with a 54-45 overtime victory over River Forest. Junior Ryan Geberin, who entered the week's action with a 5.6 scoring average, totaled 40 points in the two games, including a career-high 23 against the Blackhawks.
Westville (10-8): The Blackhawks extended their winning streak to seven games with wins over Washington, Morgan and LaCrosse. Kevin Stone-Tharp totaled 52 points in the three games to go over the 300 mark to 345. Senior Christian Porter totaled 42 points, including a career-best 21 against Washington, to move over the 300 mark to 325. Senior Dan Warnke added 34 points in the three games to move over the 700 mark to 726. In the process, he passed his brother Steve on the Blackhawks' scoring list. On Monday, he scored eight points against Hebron and passed his uncle Bob, becoming the highest scoring Warnke of them all. He ranks 18th on the school's scoring list. Sophomore Shawn Gerron added a career-high 11 points against LaCrosse.
Wheeler (11-7): Senior Ryan Hensen scored 12 points in a 55-37 win over Kankakee Valley to reach the 200-point mark for his career.
