Last year: 19-3, 7-0 (PCC)
The Mustangs return a pair of double-digit scorers, but graduation losses, retirement and a suspension gives this team a different look. Andrew Birky, last season's leading rebounder and second-leading scorer, graduated. After 30 years with the Mustangs, Marty Gaff resigned as head coach. Senior Max Everaert, who would have been the leading returning scorer (19.1), is lost for the season due to a violation of school policies. Matt Stewart (11.0) and Cody Nelson (10.9) return for the offense, and new coach Matt Crawford also likes what the 6-foot-8 center can do on the defensive end. "(Stewart) brings height to the back end of our defense," said Crawford, who was previously the coach at Oregon-Davis. "That gives the rest of the defense confidence that someone there can back them up." Despite the changes, Crawford believes he can continue the winning tradition. "I want to keep building the success that has been established," he said. "The experience (we have back) is huge." — Jim Hunsley

Matt Stewart, Sr., C: First-year coach Crawford said Stewart has a "good set of hands." The senior should have a bigger presence on offense this season.
