Lake Station returns four starters in coach Bob Burke's second season. Burke is excited about the work that was put in over the summer. He expects to play a fast-paced, aggressive style of basketball. "We're definitely going to try to get out in front and run as much as possible," Burke said. "Being able to start three juniors and senior is big. We're not telling them, they're just doing it." Last season derailed after the Eagles blew a fourth-quarter lead to Boone Grove. Lake Station didn't win again. Burke said his team has put that behind them. "I don't think we're going to make those same mistakes late in games," he said. "We're going to be the ones forcing those mistakes." Brian Patterson is a proven scoring threat. Kyle Gooch and Dwayne Haden are known commodities. Those three must produce and become leaders. Mark Novakovich had a great summer, Burke said, and will have to work the boards and play good post defense. — David P. Funk
