Last season: 7-17, 0-7 DAC
Key returners: Maurion Martin (pictured), 6-1, Jr., G; Greg Milledge, 6-1, Sr., F; James Havrilla, 6-7, Sr., F; Ian Mulle, 6-5, Sr., F; Kale Nelson, 5-9, Sr., G.
Key newcomers: Jalen Smith, 5-8, Jr., G; Tyler Hufford, 6-4, Sr., C; JaCobie Sims, 6-2, Jr., C; Brandon English, 6-5, Jr., C; Noah Penrose, 5-11, Sr., G; Stefen Psomadelis, 5-9, Sr., G.
Outlook: The Indians return three starters and will have a much more balanced look with breakout candidate Martin (8.3 ppg, 4 rpg, 2.6 assists per game) and the athletic Milledge (6.6 ppg). The 225-pound English, who had a torn ACL as a freshman, had a strong summer and provides more size for one of the tallest Portage front line since the Twin Towers days of Havrilla's dad, Jim. Penrose, who didn't make the team the last two years, adds another perimeter shooter. "I don't think we're going to have one leader every game," coach Rick Snodgrass said. "I feel like we could have four or five, which gives us a different outlook. We've got a good mixture of size, for once, along with quickness, so we can play different types of tempo, pushing the ball or grinding out a half-court game. That's a nice feeling."
