PEORIA | Three Seton Academy players were named to the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Class 1A/2A all-state teams.
Junior guard Mark Weems made the first team, while senior J.R. Tolliver was named to the second team.
Weems was also named the most outstanding player in the Catholic League South. Junior Kamal Shasi was named to the third team.
Seton family: Northern Iowa forward Chris Olivier was in attendance at Carver Arena to cheer his former teammates.
Olivier was a member of the Sting's 2009 which won it all in 2009.
"I had to come here and cheer the guys on," Olivier said. "I'd like to be out there playing, but I can't."
He said he wants them to take it all.
"That was a great time and coach (Brandon) Thomas always talks about family and we are one," Olivier said. "I want them to win it all."
Normal U-High advances: In the first Class 2A semifinal on Friday, Normal U-High held on for a 55-52 win over Rockford Lutheran.
Rockford Lutheran missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Normal U-High (27-4) was led in scoring by Keita Bates-Diop with 16 points. Kurtis Ellis had 13. Tarence Roby led Rockford Lutheran (29-3) with 13 points.
Class 1A: Carrollton and Woodlawn won in the Class 1A semifinals.
Carrollton escaped with a 45-44 win over Illini Central as Joey Coonrod had 15 points.
Woodlawn built up a 38-15 halftime lead in its 62-44 win over North Shore Country Day.
A.J. Webb led Woodlawn (28-5) with 21 points.
