Inside the Blackhawks
"We've got some guys who can score in the system. We want to move the ball around to the open man, and he has to be able to take advantage of the opening." !~ coach Bill Berger
Leading returning scorer: Jesse Mills, 12.6 ppg.
Leading returning rebounder: Reilly Wilson, 7 rpg.
Go-to player: Mills, Sr., G. "He's a slasher, very aggressive," coach Bill Berger said. "He goes to the basket very strong. He does a little of everything."
He's got next: Kevin Stone-Tharp, Jr., F. "He's also a slashing type of player, very good on offense," Berger said. "He was somewhat inconsistent last season, and we're hoping for more consistency this season."
Circled on the calendar: "We're just pointing to each game one at a time," Berger said. "We're not able to forget about anybody right now."
The Times' breakdown
Mills, senior forward Wilson and junior guard Dan Warnke combined to average more than 30 points a game a season ago. Berger doesn't believe he has a prolific scorer in his lineup, but he feels the trio plus Stone-Tharp and others will keep the offense going. "Last year, Reilly was the only one (that entered) with varsity experience," Berger said. "Now, he's got a lot more help."
