Brandon Propes scored a team-high 16 points Wednesday, but Rochester ended North Newton's season, winning 59-48 in the opening round of the Class 2A Winamac Sectional.
Tom Nikalaj added 10 for the Spartans (2-19).
Jon O'Dell led the Zebras (7-14) with a game-high 17.
The host Warriors defeated North Judson 73-52 in the other first-round game.
Parker Fox led four players in double figures with 16 points for Winamac (9-12). J.T. Garnett and Zach Shidler each added 13, while Adam Gruenig scored 12.
The Warriors led 19-7 after one quarter and never looked back. Winamac drained 11 3-pointers. Garnett and Gruenig each had four, while Shidler had three.
Jacob Shabi and Dalton Bailey each scored 12 for the Bluejays (6-15). Tim Stasiek chipped in 10.
Defending champion Hebron (9-10) meets Winamac at 5:30 p.m. in Friday's semifinals, while Boone Grove (12-8) and Rochester follow at 7.
