HAMMOND | In terms relative to student population, Bishop Noll is mosquito buzzing in Chesterton's ear.

The Times No. 4 Warriors were that pesky, too, in their 1-1 tie with the No. 5 Trojans on Saturday at Noll.

"My thing was to get (Chesterton) out of their game because they came out here trying to do whatever they wanted with us," Bishop Noll coach Armando Garza said, "and we just stood there."

Bishop Noll (8-1-2) didn't register a shot on goal until the 27th minute, when Gonzalo Romo's shot banged off the crossbar. At that point, Chesterton tallied eight shots, four of which found either the back of the net of Warriors keeper Mitchell Payonk's gloves.

"I think we're better than them and we should have won (Saturday)," Chesterton coach James Sensibaugh said. "We had some chances to put them away early in the game and we didn't."

The Trojans (7-3-1) scored first when Cole Gordon's big cross from the left side found Billy Biehl's neon-orange shoe. Biehl bulleted a shot to the far side and past Payonk.

Noll evened things up after Chesterton was called for a fould in the box. Aaron Garza's penalty kick went to the left and found nylon.

"I think the first half was the difference tonight -- the stupid foul in the box that gave them the P.K.," Sensibaugh said. "Certainly, if we go up 2-0 or 3-0 it's a totally different game because they have to push up a little further."

The game became very physical in the second half. The Warriors were issued four yellow cards.

"I told them at halftime that if you want to play with these guys, they're going to slap you around. Don't let them slap you around," Armando Garza said. "Make them show a little more respect toward us."

"We don't have the record we have by a coincidence."

Coach Garza said said he had a handful of starters out with injuries.

"With these guys out, to do what we did against that team," he said/ "I'm happy."
