HAMMOND | Times No. 4 Bishop Noll was pumped up for its senior night, and that enthusiasm showed in a 4-0 blanking of No. 9 Boone Grove.
At the front of that offensive attack was Robbie Lorenz, who scored a goal and recorded two assists to lead the Warriors.
“This is probably the best game I’ve had all season,” he said. “It was adrenaline most moments, and others it was just relaxed and keeping the game under control. It was exciting.”
The Warriors got on the board early, as Lorenz found the net less than five minutes into the match to give Noll a 1-0 lead.
The Wolves had a chance to tie the game with less than 10 minutes left in the first half when Austin Aguilera found himself on an open goal, but a foul negated that opportunity, and the Warriors held their 1-0 lead at the break.
The second half was a different story, however, as the Warriors netted three goals to put the game away in a much more action-packed 40 minutes.
“In the second half, we definitely attacked a lot more,” Lorenz said.
“Our offense seemed more coordinated; our defense stepped up and didn’t let anything through. In the first half, you just get the jitters out. We like to stay strong the whole game.”
Freshman Gabriel Anguiano gave the Warriors (10-2-1) an insurance goal with 28:37 remaining in the game, connecting off an assist from Brandon Wade before Ryan Cloghessy corralled a cross pass from Lorenz to make it 3-0 less than four minutes later.
Justin Golich then capped the scoring for Bishop Noll when he scored from the right side with 2:07 remaining in the game.
Bishop Noll head coach Armando Garza missed the game due to prior engagements with work.
