First Team

Josh Aaron | LaPorte

Position: Forward

Year: Senior

Analysis: The school's career leader in goals (52), he had 17 goals and four assists in his final campaign. Even though he was the "marked man" in the lineup, Aaron still found a way to dent the back of the net with his offensive skills.

Yamen Atassi | Valparaiso

Position: Midfielder

Year: Senior

Analysis: The Times Player of the Year provided much more to his team than his seven goals and seven assists. In the preseason, Valparaiso coach Danny Jeftich described Atassi as the missing link -- Atassi missed most of last season due to injuries. One of the most skilled players on a talented roster, he provided leadership.

Alec Becker | Portage

Position: Midfielder

Year: Senior

Analysis: Served as a captain the last two seasons, and he totaled 10 goals and six assists as a senior. The two-time All-Duneland Athletic Conference pick played defense for over half of his prep career, but he proved this season that he can play at both ends of the pitch.

Billy Biehl | Chesterton

Position: Forward

Year: Sophomore

Analysis: Totaled 33 points in his breakthrough season. The talented 10th-grader is already receiving Division I looks. He might have been one of the most explosive offensive players in the area this season -- and he has two years remaining in his prep career.

Nick Cossyleon | Munster

Position: Forward/Midfielder

Year: Senior

Analysis: Cossyleon missed his entire junior season due to a torn ACL, but he came back in a big way for his final campaign. Cossyleon registered 17 goals and six assists this season in leading the Mustangs to their 11th straight sectional championship. The Mustangs will need to find offense from someone else next season.

Josh Crague | Lake Central

Position: Forward/Midfielder/Defender

Year: Senior

Analysis: One of the top forwards in Northwest Indiana, Crague was the unquestioned leader on a very young Lake Central team that upset Crown Point 5-4 in the first round of the Merrillville Regional. Crague also helped the Indians to their 10th consecutive sectional championship. His versatility on the field will be difficult to replace next season.

Daniel Curiel | Clark

Position: Defense/Midfielder

Year: Senior

Analysis: Curiel and Clark took Munster to the wire in the sectional championship, as the Mustangs had to win via shootout. That was no fluke, as Curiel also helped Clark to a tie of Andrean earlier this season. The Pioneers put extra focus on defense this season, and Curiel responded to become one of the best defenders in the state.

Mike Gore | Andrean

Position: Forward

Year: Junior

Analysis: Gore led the Northwest Crossroads Conference with 18 goals and 10 assists this season. showing great ability to feed the ball to a teammate as well as create scoring himself. Gore will be back next season, likely resuming his role as the go-to scorer for the 59ers.

Chase Holford | Valparaiso

Position: Defense

Year: Senior

Analysis: The stopper was the glue to the defensive wall, but he also provided offense when needed. Holford converted on a pair of penalty kicks, one that was the difference in a 1-0 regular-season win over Chesterton.

Evan Kattan | Munster

Position: Goalie

Year: Senior

Analysis: Kattan earned first team all-district honors this season and was the main reason why Munster was able to capture its 11th straight sectional championship. As he did all season, Kattan came up big, stuffing three potential goals in the shootout session to defeat Clark.

Luke Kovar | Valparaiso

Position: Midfielder

Year: Junior

Analysis: He had eight goals and six assists, but he might have been the most versatile player in the Vikings' lineup. He played on offense most of the season, but an injury to Tommy Billings forced a move to sweeper. The defense didn't appear to skip a beat with Kovar's inclusion.

Ethan Lehnen | Valparaiso

Position: Goalie

Year: Senior

Analysis: The DAC MVP made 55 saves and posted 11 shutouts. He also provided a boost in the regional, making a combined five saves in two shootout victories. Very athletic and a quick study, Lehnen made great strides between the pipes after returning to the sport as a sophomore.

Carmelo Morales | Crown Point

Position: Forward

Year: Junior

Analysis: With 18 goals and eight assists this season, Morales burst onto the scene in a big way this season. Increased aggressiveness and dedication paid dividends for Morales, who was the best offensive player on a talented Bulldogs squad. He'll be back next year to continue wreaking havoc on opposing defenses.

Gonzalo Romo | Bishop Noll

Position: Midfielder

Year: Senior

Analysis: With 13 goals and 11 assists this season, Romo emerged as the Warriors' best scorer. The Warriors were shut out 3-0 by Andrean in the Bishop Noll sectional semifinal, but they were still among the most talented teams in Northwest Indiana. Romo was a huge part of that, and replacing him next season will not be easy.

Tony Zervos | Crown Point

Position: Defender

Year: Senior

Analysis: Zervos will be sorely missed as an elite defender for the Bulldogs. He was instrumental in Crown Point's 2011 state championship as well as the Bulldogs' success in the DAC this season. Filling his shoes will be extremely tough for coach Mike Bazin.
