Crete-Monee football star and University of Mississippi recruit Laquon Treadwell picked up another honor.
He recently made Parade All-America honorable mention and said it was special to be named to an elite squad.
"It is really a great honor to be in such company," Treadwell said. "I didn't know about it until my coaches told me. There are a lot of great players on it and I am humbled to be a part of it.
"It is a payoff for my hard work and work of my teammates and coaches."
Treadwell will sign his National Letter of Intent on Wednesday morning at the school along with other teammates. He helped lead Crete-Monee to the school's first team championship in any sport when the Warriors beat Cary-Crove to win the Class 6A title in November.
His coach Jerry Verde said he was happy for the two-time Times Offensive Player of the Year.
"It does show how hard Quon has worked and the effort he put in to making himself a good football player," Verde said. "In my10 years of coaching high school football, I have never seen a player who can dominate and take over a game like Quon."
The 6-foot-3 receiver had 1,424 receiving yards, 257 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns for the Warriors. -- Mike Nieto

Rich South 59, Crete-Monee 51: Lindzy Cox's 14 points and Marsha Howard's 14 rebound led the Warriors (23-4, 5-4) in the Southland Athletic Conference loss to the Stars.
