Bloom Twp. officials will view a DVD and meet Monday to determine what exactly happened at the end of Friday's boys basketball game between Bloom Twp. and host Kankakee.
Kankakee coach Ronnie Wilcox said he saw a Bloom player throw a punch at the mouth of one of his players, according to the Kankakee Daily Journal's Web site. Wilcox said the incident near midcourt quickly spilled to the Bloom bench. where the fight escalated. There were three separate incidents, according to the newspaper.
Bloom Twp. coach Jasper Williams and athletic director Joe Reda told The Times they will not comment until they have all the facts.
Williams confirmed that fans came down from the stands and there was some tension. He said he could not confirm if one of his players threw a punch after Kankakee's 59-54 SICA South win.
Reda was not at the game.
The Daily Journal's story said Edward Charles Smith, 17, of Kankakee, was arrested by Kankakee police for mob action and disorderly conduct.
Smith reportedly was arrested outside the school building after he took his shirt off and continued to yell at the people inside the Bloom bus despite police and school administrators telling everyone to leave the area.
