After a tough Week 1 loss against Rensselaer, Kankakee Valley went to Indianapolis Manual on Friday and got a resounding 60-6 victory.
The Kougars got 350 total yards of offense, and the D allowed only 100 yards.
Keegan Higgns had 73 yards on nine carries and one touchdown. Alex Berdine had 55 yards on five carries and a score. Kelsey Jones had 53 yards on seven carries with a score.
Matt Myers, Riley Misch, Tim Schoonveld and Jimmy Elliot also scored for the Kougars (1-1) against the Redskins (0-2).
"It was important that we got off to a good start after last week," K.V. coach Brad Stewart said. "Our offense struggled in the opener, and we needed to get our confidence back. Our defense played very well, too. They had negative yardage until we started substituting, and they got 88 of their 100 yards on one play. So I'm happy with the way our kids played."
Michigan City 57, South Bend Washington 14: A 90-minute weather delay may have been just what the Michigan City football team needed Friday.
South Bend Washington scored just 2:09 into the game, right before the storms rolled into town. When play resumed, the Wolves (2-0) erupted for 44 first-half points on their way to a rout of the Panthers at Ames Field.
Ryan Washington ran for four touchdowns and threw for two, both to Scotty Kaletha, who accounted for 147 receiving yards. M.C., which rushed for 220 yards, has scored over 50 points in both games.
