CHICAGO HEIGHTS | With an offense averaging 35 points per game and the defense yielding a "spartan" 10.3 points, Marian Catholic's freshman football team finished the season with a 9-0 record.
By way of rushing, receiving and kick returns, Tyrice Richie compiled a team-leading 26 touchdowns. Richie also passed for three TDs for the Spartans.
Co-captain Montreal Blade proved to be an adept leader on both sides of the ball for Marian Catholic, scoring 10 rushing touchdowns and calling the signals on defensive.
Sean Taylor, another co-captain, also shined on both sides with eight receiving touchdowns, seven blocked punts and three interceptions.
Co-captain Cameron Thomas and Jesiah Jones combined for 15 TD passes. Daniel Gutierrez led the team with five interceptions, and co-captain Dylan Conway had three picks.
The platoon of John Michael Schmitz, Jack Doyle, Warren Allen, AJ Anderson, Alex Lucente and Billy Moreland anchored both the offensive and defensive lines for the Spartans.
