Russ Radtke will be announced as the new football coach at New Prairie High School today, the school confirmed on Thursday afternoon.
Radtke, the Griffith High School football coach, is scheduled to be introduced at a meeting at 4:30 p.m.
Several attempts to reach Griffith athletic director Bill Crowley and Radtke were unsuccessful.
In 19 years at Griffith, Radtke was 174-62 with 11 sectional championships, five regionals and one state championship.
In 1997 the Panthers beat Hamilton Southeastern 49-7 to win the Class 4A state title.
Radtke is 293-117 in 35 years as a head coach . He will likely reach the coveted 300-win mark this coming fall.
Whether Griffith's stadium will get a new moniker or not remains to be seen. Radtke's vaunted wishbone offense gave the field the name of "The Boneyard."
Radtke will coach on the field he used to storm the sidelines on at least one more time. New Prairie will visit Griffith on Aug. 24 for a Week 2 showdown.
The Panthers won 49-7 last year.
