Friday night’s Class 2A Sectional 33 championship game between Rensselaer and host team Bowman Academy will be played at E.C. Central High School, the Indiana High School Athletic Association announced Wednesday.
The game will kick off at 7 p.m.
Bowman, which does not have its own football game facility, has played its home games this season at Roosevelt. The Roosevelt facility is not believed to be sufficient for hosting a sectional championship game.
Two weeks ago, the Hammond at Roosevelt opening-round sectional game was played at Roosevelt.
Earlier this week, the IHSAA announced the E.C. Central at West Side game could not be played at West Side because improvements to the field at that Gary high school were not satisfactorily completed.
Bowman (6-5), in its fifth season of IHSAA tournament play, will be attempting to capture the school’s first sectional football title against a Rensselaer (9-2) team ranked No. 5 in the state’s Class 2A poll.
